This page is dedicated to dogs who I have known, or owned in the past. Although they didn't have rows of letters before or after their names they were as big a part of my life, and that of my family as my current dogs.
Misty (Beagle)
Misty was our first "real" dog - she was bought in a little town called Mistique (hence her name). She was a true blue hunting beagle and loved it whenever we would head off to the Eastern Townships in Quebec and she would disappear for hours hunting rabbit or moles. She put up with tomato soup baths when she got too close to skunks and loved to wrestle on the living room floor with Dad.
Bonnie (mix)
Bonnie was a mix breed purchased from a neighbour - we only had her for a short time, it became obvious that she was going to be a BIG dog and I think my mother thought that three kids, and one dog was enough, we didn't need to add another big one. I will always remember her, though.
Darcy (Miniature Poodle)
Darcy wasn't my Poodle - he belonged to a friend of mine. It was through him that we originally met and became friends. You couldn't but be enchanted by him - he was a friendly, trusting little soul with a jaunty attitude.
I came to know him fairly well, and enjoyed his antics when he came for his grooming. He would follow me out of the house and jump into my car like we were the best of friends. I was amazed how he followed me from the car to the apartment like a little puppy, no leash, just trotting along like he owned the world.
I don't think he actually like the grooming process - he would be quite annoyed once he figured out that he wasn't just visiting with my poodles, but he was stoic as he sat on the grooming table, and was quite disdainful as he positioned himself near the front door of the apartment, always hopeful that he would be rescued.
Darcy taught us to live life to the fullest - for he died just weeks before his 5th birthday - merely a shadow of his cheery self, having faded away over his short lifetime from a disease that gave no recourse.
Till the Rainbow Bridge, Mr Darcy...

Rusty
Rusty was my parent's miniature poodle, purchased when I moved out of the house with Percy. Rusty had the most hilarious tricks and things that he did; he liked to hide under the footstool and woof; his most famous antic was having the sulks - sitting facing into the corner of the room if he was miffed at something my parents had done or not done! He used to sit on my Dad's lap and read the newspaper in the morning, and loved to go for boat rides at the cottage. He liked to play ball endlessly. He was a great companion for my parents and is greatly missed.
Josephine

Josephine was a gentle little poodle who came into my sister's life at a time when she needed some comfort. Josephine loved to cuddle and snuggled and bonded with my sister instantly. It was as though they were linked. In time Josephine became my niece's dog and Rachel doted on her. We cannot thank Heidi and Elaine Bellamy of Rosebell Poodles enough for entrusting this special poodle to us. Josephine passed in February 2008 and is deeply missed.
