Rally-Obedience is one of the newer sports that you can do with your dog. The Canadian Association of Rally Obedience, the CKC and the AKC are only a few of the organizations that offer trials. Rally-O is a fun, interactive sport which means you are going around a "course" which is made up of different exercises that you and your dog do. For instance, you could be asked to have your dog sit, lie down, and sit again before moving on to the next "station" which might be an about turn. Anyone who has done competitive obedience is usually familiar with the doodling exercises we use in training - basically rally builds on these and puts them into a course. You are allowed to talk to your dog throughout the course, and may even use food in some organizations.
I first learned about Rally in December 2006 when I attended a CKC Rally seminar and I was thoroughly enthused with this new game! Bronte has since earned her CKC Rally Novice and Rally Advanced and CARO Rally Novice. Owen earned his CKC Rallly Novice title in August, his RA and RE and is working on legs for his RAE. Bowie has his CARO Novice and has started CARO as well.
Can you tell we're kind of hooked?
Here's Bowie doing Novice Rally at PCA in June 2007.

This is Bronte working in Advanced.
